I had a chance to direct lighting on Late Show with Letterman for singer/songwriter Ryn Weaver.
It was a really special day for me personally because of the history I have on that 53rd St block. 14 years earlier I was a performer across the street at the Broadway with Blast!. I used to go to rehearsals at Letterman of amazing artists and I still have a Juliette Lewis signed, Natural Born Killers soundtrack from meeting her over there. A few years later I found myself working back at the Broadway as a climbing lighting and projection tech for a number of shows. Ive worked sound next door at studio 54, as well as lighting and projection for shows at the Roseland. Letterman was the last theater on that block to check off and the late night team is all changing over to Colbert in May so time was running out. The team was really friendly and open to what I wanted to try. Big thanks to Tim Stephenson and Richard Tyndall for really nailing the look and putting homework time into the programming for us.
Ryn is excited, full of creativity, beautiful and definitely dropping into some big waves right now with a great team of producers and management around her. Spent a few hours with her management and Benny Blanco hanging out backstage talking about her album that is almost finished and its got a lot of people excited.
