Got another opportunity to design a performance lighting look on Late Show with Letterman. This time for Tove Lo.
This was a tricky one. Less than a week to prepare. Have never met Tove. Letterman as a workflow only includes a short afternoon rehearsal. Approximately 3 run throughs of your song. Load in and tech in 4 hours in the morning. Hang projectors and trace out the set as quickly as possible.
Lighting balance with a mixture of dim tungsten and moving light color temp. Front light of projector black. Bright blue reflective floor.
Wow.
The CBS team is so pro and a joy to work with. We were able to include a small cast of NYC dancers to support the club atmosphere Tove wanted to create. I reached out to my network and pulled some aces on short notice.

The primary design goal was to create a different look than had been on Letterman in the past while creating a current club atmosphere in line with the aesthetic of the official video.
